Acupuncture for Cancer Support

Supportive Care During and After Cancer Treatment

A cancer diagnosis is a life-altering event, and the journey through chemotherapy, radiotherapy, or surgery can be physically and emotionally demanding. At the Will Roscoe Clinic in Clifton, I offer supportive acupuncture treatments designed to work alongside your primary medical care.

My approach is focused on Integrative Oncology Support. Based on clinical guidelines and research, acupuncture can be an effective tool for managing common side effects, including:

  • Chemotherapy-Induced Nausea and Vomiting (CINV)
  • Cancer-Related Fatigue
  • Peripheral Neuropathy (tingling/numbness in hands and feet)
  • Dry Mouth (Xerostomia) and Hot Flushes
  • Anxiety, Stress, and Sleep Disturbance

As a practitioner with a First Class BSc Honours in TCM, I provide a safe, compassionate, and highly professional environment. I am happy to communicate with your oncology team to ensure your acupuncture care is fully integrated with your hospital treatment plan.

Common Questions about Cancer Support

Is it safe to have acupuncture during chemotherapy or radiotherapy?

Yes. Clinical research supports the use of acupuncture alongside conventional cancer treatments. However, I always tailor the treatment to your current blood counts (such as platelets and white blood cell levels). I recommend informing your oncology consultant that you are receiving supportive acupuncture.

How does Japanese Acupuncture differ for cancer support?

Because I specialize in Toyohari (Japanese) Acupuncture, the treatment is exceptionally gentle. It often involves non-insertive techniques or very fine needles that barely touch the surface of the skin. This is ideal for patients who are feeling physically sensitive or have a weakened immune system.

Can acupuncture help with 'Chemo Brain'?

Many clients find that acupuncture helps clear the “mental fog” and fatigue often associated with treatment. By supporting the nervous system and improving sleep quality, we aim to help you feel more like yourself during and after your recovery.

Will you work with my medical team?

Absolutely. Integrative care is at the heart of what I do. I am happy to provide a summary of treatment for your GP or oncologist to ensure a joined-up approach to your health.
